Law Reform

The Fiji Law Reform Commission is tasked with the review and examination of Fiji's laws for the purpose of their reform and development.

The Commission was established in 1979 under the Fiji Law Reform Commission Act. Under the Act the Commission has its aim to enforce the systematic review, reform and development of the laws of Fiji.

The Commission role and duties include the codification of our laws; the elimination of anomalies in the laws; the repeal of outdated and unnecessary laws; the reduction of separate legislation; the making of new laws; the adoption of new or more effective and economical methods for the administration of the law and the dispensation of justice, and generally to simplify, improve and modernize the law.
