The Law Revision is responsible for overseeing the consolidation, revision and updates to all laws in accordance with the powers given under the Revised Edition of the Laws Act 1971. The last consolidation was conducted in 2016 and revision of the Laws of Fiji was continued in the 2023-2024 period.

There are 5 main objectives of Law Revision as follows:

  • The provision of an authoritative statement of the law;
  • Consolidation of the law.
  • Rectification and improvement of the laws by the exercise of statutory powers.
  • Identification of problems in the law; and
  • Used as a tool for overall review of the law

The Laws of Fiji website was officially launched by the Hon. Chief Justice on Friday, 29 March 2019 and the office’s considerable effort in relation to the revision and consolidation of the laws of Fiji since 2015 and it is an important achievement for the Office and for Fiji.
