The Office of the Attorney-General is established under the Constitution of the Republic of Fiji. As the principal legal advisor to the Government, the Attorney-General holds a pivotal role in ensuring that the States operates within the bounds of the law, upholding the Constitution and the rule of law for the benefit of all Fijians.

- Legislative Drafting & Law Revision:
- Preparing primary legislation (Bills) for introduction to Parliament
- Drafting Regulations, Legal Notices and Orders for all Government Ministries
- Continuously updating and maintaining the official digital repository of Fiji’s written laws to ensure public accessibility and accuracy

- Advisory and Treaty Services:
- Issuing authoritative advice to the Prime Minister, Cabinet and Government Departments on complex legal issues
- Reviewing and clearing all high-value Government contracts, loan agreements, and international treaties before they are signed
- Advising on Fiji’s obligations under international conventions, including human rights, maritime and trade agreements
- Intellectual Property and Regulatory Registries:
- Administering the registration and enforcement of Trademarks, Patents and Industrial Designs
- Managing the Film Control Board (classification) and the Central Liquor Board (licensing standards)
