MR FILIPE BATIWALE
Online Safety Commissioner
Mr Filipe Batiwale is the Commissioner of the Online Safety Commission of Fiji, leading national efforts to promote digital wellbeing and regulate online harms. He holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Canterbury and is admitted to practice in New Zealand, Australia. Filipe brings legal and policy experience from roles in government, prosecution, and private practice across the Pacific and Australasia — including as a Crown Prosecutor in New Zealand, a government advisor at MBIE, and a commercial lawyer in Brisbane. As Commissioner, Filipe is focused on strengthening Fiji’s online safety framework, with a particular emphasis on addressing cyberbullying, child exploitation, and technology-facilitated abuse.
